Questions worth answering up front.
Straight answers, no hedging. If yours isn't here, see the full feature list, the user manual, or write to hello@ketocypher.com.
Does KetoCypher scan barcodes?
Yes. Open Add Food and scan any barcode to pull nutrition from Open Food Facts, a large open food database, with your one-time permission the first time you scan or search. You can also search the database by name or enter a food manually.
Does it work with Health Connect?
Yes. KetoCypher reads weight, sleep, heart rate, glucose, and steps from Google Health Connect, each data type optional and revocable anytime in Settings. With your permission, it can also write your logged meals, water, and manually entered weight, glucose, and blood pressure back to Health Connect so your other health apps can use them.
Is it free?
Yes. Logging, barcode scanning, fasting timers, health tracking, Health Connect, and on-device insights are the full app, free, with no paywall and no ads. The only paid add-on is Premium Backup, for automatic encrypted cloud backup.
What does Premium Backup add?
Premium Backup ($2/month or $20/year) adds automatic nightly encrypted cloud backup and restore, so losing or replacing your phone doesn't mean losing your log. It's priced to cover its own infrastructure cost, nothing more, and it doesn't unlock any feature that's otherwise paywalled.
Can anyone at KetoCypher read my log?
No. Every food entry, weight reading, and biometric value is encrypted on your phone before it ever leaves, and the server stores ciphertext only. There's no admin key and no backdoor, so KetoCypher can't read your log, even if compelled to.
Does it support carnivore?
Yes. Carnivore (0 g carbs) is one of six built-in Nutritional Protocols, alongside Ketovore (10 g), Strict Keto (20 g), Keto (50 g), Low Carb (100 g), and Custom. The food data is curated for carnivore specifically, with accurate organ meats and real beef cuts instead of one generic "beef" entry.
Net or total carbs?
Both are tracked and visible at all times; Carb Mode decides which one is the headline number. Total Carbs is the default; Net Carbs, which subtracts fiber and sugar alcohols, is one tap away in Settings.
Can I track ketones and GKI?
Yes. Log ketones from urine strips, blood BHB, or breath, and track your glucose ketone index (GKI) too, logged straight from a combo meter or lab report. No combo meter? Work it out with our free GKI calculator. Glucose, A1c, blood pressure, and a full cholesterol panel are also supported, all free.
Is it on iPhone?
Not yet. KetoCypher is Android only today; there's no iOS or web version. iOS is on the roadmap but unscheduled.
Do I need an account and why?
Yes, an account (email and password) is required before first use. It's the one online step that makes password recovery, email security alerts, and, if you choose, Premium Backup possible; after that, logging works without a connection (barcode scans and food search need one), and nothing you log reaches the server unless you turn on Premium Backup, which uploads it encrypted.
